By booking a safari with Abner Safaris, you agree to the following terms and conditions. These terms are designed to ensure a smooth and enjoyable safari experience while protecting both parties. Please read them carefully and contact us if you have any questions.

1. Safari Cancellation Policy

Abner Safaris incurs charges from hotels, lodges, camps, and airlines once bookings are made on your behalf. Cancellation fees therefore apply as follows:

Kenya & Tanzania Safaris

  • 60+ days before safari: No cancellation charges
  • 35 to 59 days before safari: 50% charge
  • 15 to 34 days before safari: 60% charge
  • 4 to 14 days before safari: 80% charge
  • 0 to 3 days before safari: 100% charge (no refund)
Refund Notes:
  • Refunds are made only to the original payment card.
  • A 5% administrative fee applies to all refunds.
  • Refunds are completed within 60 days of the official cancellation.
  • Supplier-specific cancellation rules may override the above.

Uganda & Rwanda safari cancellation terms are available upon request.

2. Payment Terms

Deposit Requirements

  • 1 to day tours: No deposit
  • 2 to 3 days: 80% deposit
  • 4 to 6 days:80% deposit
  • 7 to 12 days: 80% deposit
  • Kenya to Tanzania combined: 80% deposit

Balance Payment

Final balance is payable 6–1 days before the safari begins. For international guests, payments must be made in USD unless agreed otherwise.

3. Pricing & Surcharges

Prices displayed on our website are per person and quoted in USD. They exclude:

  • Visas and passports
  • Tips
  • Personal insurance
  • Optional excursions
  • Personal expenses

Website prices are indicative. Final prices appear on your official quotation.

Surcharges may apply due to:

  • Fuel or airline cost changes
  • Park fee adjustments
  • Currency fluctuations
  • Government taxes or levies

4. Secure Online Payments

Abner Safaris prefers online credit or debit card payments (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). A secure payment link is sent once your invoice is issued.

Payment Security:

No transaction fee is charged by Abner Safaris. Your bank may apply an international processing fee.

5. Bank Transfer Payments

All official Abner Safaris accounts are located in Nairobi and Mombasa, Kenya.

Safety Notice:

For your safety, always verify bank details with our team before transferring funds.

6. Addressing Issues During Your Safari

If a problem arises while on safari:

  • Notify your tour manager, driver-guide, or lodge manager immediately.
  • If unresolved, submit a written complaint within 20 days of completing your trip.

Failure to report issues during the safari may limit our ability to assist.

7. Seasonal & Environmental Factors

Some facilities may close during low season. Services may also be affected by:

  • Maintenance work
  • Public holidays
  • Religious festivals (e.g., Ramadan)

8. Wildlife Advisory

Important Safety Information:

Safaris involve close encounters with wild animals. Although rare, incidents can occur. Abner Safaris, its staff, and partners cannot be held liable for injuries or wildlife-related incidents.

Many camps are unfenced; wildlife may roam freely.

9. Mandatory Travel Insurance

All guests must have comprehensive travel insurance covering:

  • Cancellation and curtailment
  • Medical and emergency evacuation
  • Baggage and money loss
Required:

If visiting from overseas, provide us with your insurance provider and policy number before arrival.

10. Liability & Responsibility

Safari travel involves inherent risks, including rough roads, unpredictable weather, and remote environments.

Abner Safaris acts as an agent when booking accommodation, transport, flights, and activities and is not liable for:

  • Death, injury, delay, or loss
  • Acts of God, terrorism, government actions
  • Changes to itineraries caused by third parties or circumstances beyond our control

We reserve the right to modify itineraries and substitute accommodations where necessary.

11. Safari Vehicles

Our East Africa safari fleet includes 4×4 Land Cruisers designed for wildlife viewing. Vehicles may lack full air-conditioning beyond basic ventilation.

Open-sided vehicles may be used in conservancies or during fly-in safaris.

12. Electricity & Power Availability

Most camps operate on generator power. Electricity may be available only during specific hours.

Power Information:

Kenya uses 240V / 50Hz with UK-style 3-pin plugs. A travel adapter and small torch are recommended.

13. Water Safety

Tap water in safari lodges is not safe for drinking. Bottled water is provided.

14. Road Conditions

Roads in remote areas can be rough and may result in extended travel times.

15. Legal Jurisdiction

All terms are governed by Kenyan law. Disputes will be resolved in Kenya through courts or arbitration.

16. Complaints After Your Trip

For complaints not resolved during your safari:

  • Submit a written summary within 30 days of completing your tour.
  • Abner Safaris will investigate within 30 days.
  • Valid compensation, if applicable, will be processed within 30 days of resolving the issue.
